"We make unceasing efforts to improve our products and services to avoid material damage to our customers. We are an alarm manufacturer and also manage the largest security center in the Czech Republic. Therefore, we are very interested in the views of those against whom we actually develop our products," said Dalibor Dědek, owner of Jablotron.
The survey shows that among current security systems, a thief is most hindered by an alarm system (70%), security doors (69%) and security glass (63%). More than half of offenders would be convinced to back off by the "Object is connected to Control Room" marking, and the same number mention refraining from burglary in the presence of guard dogs. 80% of respondents pointed out that neighbors in an adjoining house are not an obstacle to them, and 2/3 continue the theft even despite an alarm going off.

What is a convenient time for burglars to break in? A total of 52 % of respondents mentioned, that family homes are best accessed at night. 74% of respondents felt that during the day is a more appropriate time for apartment building break-ins. A key finding is that more than 40% of thieves prefer to break in when people are sleeping in the property.
And on what basis do perpetrators choose an object for burglary? Most often, according to Jablotron's research, these are "recommendations" from acquaintances. But of course, perpetrators are also attracted to signs of longer absences; a full mailbox or when a house has no lights on and no airing for longer periods of time. Nor is it wise to display valuable items or brag about them, for example, on Facebook. Social networks are used today to prepare for a burglary by about one-tenth of thieves.
